NEW HOUSING

One of the main strategic objectives for New Bolton Woods is to provide much needed new housing for Bradford. Our aim is to do this in a sustainable way creating an urban village environment with local access to shops and other facilities.

The New Bolton Woods plan provides for up to 1000 new houses of varying types and tenures to support a mixed local community.

Our first phase of 50 new houses, The Poplars, was completed and is now fully occupied. Following the grant of outline planning consent for the entire New Bolton Woods project delivery partners Keepmoat are now underway with a follow-up phase of 145 new houses, called Woodlands View, for sale from early 2019 onwards.

LOCAL CENTRE SHOPS

CRUVL have completed building a new 17,000 sq.ft local food store for Aldi in April 2020 and also have planning consent for an adjacent 10,000 sq.ft. large shop unit at the junction of Canal Road and Stanley Road.  These will trade alongside the successful new Costa that opened in April 2019 and began the local centre development at the heart of New Bolton Woods.

Later phases with further shops and facilities such as the proposed new medical centre will serve both existing and new residents and help this to become the focal point for the local community.

SPORTS AND LEISURE

CRUVL has created a plan for New Bolton Woods that supports the enhancement of sports and leisure facilities around the new Local Centre and at the heart of the community.

The design of housing and streets and provision of local facilities will support increased walking and cycling and open space will be made safer, more accessible and well maintained.

A new 3G sports pitch is also to be developed working in partnership with local educational and sports charity One in a Million.

LANDSCAPED OPEN SPACES

One of the objectives for CRUVL has been to balance open space provision  with the strategic need for development of housing and other facilities.

This has been addressed in the New Bolton Woods plan by retaining as much open space as possible and by focussing on improving the quality and accessibility of space.

All new houses will be close to open amenity space and the overall ‘green’ character of the local area will be protected whilst being integrated with new housing areas.

EDUCATION

CRUVL is working closely with the Education Departments of Bradford Council to provide for the long term educational needs of the growing local community in New Bolton Woods.

Expansion of the current Poplars Farm Primary School to a two-form entry sized school will provide the initial extra space. This will modernise provision and be easily accessible to all the new houses at New Bolton Woods.

Additional provision is allowed for in the New Bolton Woods plan close to the Local Centre off Stanley Road on King George V playing fields.

MEDICAL CENTRE

CRUVL is working in partnership with the medical and administration team at a local medical practice to create a new medical facility to serve the existing and growing population of New Bolton Woods.

.

Although the project is in its early stages work has been done to assess design requirements, procurement methods and funding availability for the new building.

CRUVL expects that the medical centre will play a major part in providing a community focus within the new Local Centre alongside shops and other facilities.
